About this session

Rebranding is hard work, especially when many non-marketing professionals consider it to be a simple logo update and a colour palette revamp. Obviously, we know it's more than this, but what elements should be considered when a Union embarks on a rebranding project?

Having a clear understanding of the process and the different elements can help break down the deliverables and allow you to decide who is best placed to deliver activities. This presentation will go through the practical steps UCLan Students' Union took to deliver its recent rebranding project.

The presentation takes a deep-dive into the process that is needed even before any colour palettes are considered and unpicks parts of the branding process including identity, the brand promise and how you create brand values.

Attendees will learn:

  • Clear 5 step plan to approach a rebrand.

  • Tools and processes we used in our rebrand, including an overview of the key parts of a rebrand: research, brand identity and creative brief.

  • How to balance in-house and external/freelance support to deliver activities.

This session is suitable for people with limited knowledge of the topic.
